When 1Q84 (One Q Eighty-Four or ichi-kew-hachi-yon) was published in Japan, it was a sensational success. Its first printing sold out the day it was released. Within a month, sales of the book reached one million. This was more than a year ago. Now, the English version of 1Q84 is set to be released simultaneously in North America and the United Kingdom come October 25, 2011.

1Q84 was published in three volumes in Japan. The upcoming English version will however be released in a single 1000-page volume. The first two volumes were translated by Jay Rubin and the third volume by Philip Gabriel.

The names of the main characters in the novel are Aomame, Tengo, Komatsu, and Fukaeri. You can pre-order the book from Amazon here.
